How Things Work Around Here
Assignments: The purpose of assignments is to reinforce skills and material learned in class, to develop work habits essential for succeeding in later grades, to teach students to work independently, and to provide daily opportunities to succeed in school. Regular assignments produce more learning than less consistently assigned work. Such work should be expected Monday-Friday. Any work that extends to the home will be reviewed in class, therefore it is imperative that it is returned complete and on time with the student's best effort. All assigned work for a given subject should be completed by the prescribed due date. Assignments may be designed to be completed in class, at home or a combination of both. If a student does not complete and turn in an assignment on time, the score will be a zero. Students with excused absences will be giving as many days missed extra to complete the work.
Personal Reading: As part of our school-wide and grade based reading incentive program, your child needs to read his or her personal text each night for a minimum of 20 pages.
Student Planners: Each student is given a planner and is expected to write down his or her assignments and up coming assessments on a daily. The students should carry this book with them to and from school. This should serve as an indication of the homework your child has each evening.
